I know why “prefered pronouns” and “prefered name” were retired from the vocabulary (it’s way more than a matter of preference) but in retrospect it feels like a successful psyop to make transphobes sound absolutely incoherent.
Griping about people having “prefered pronouns”: legible, clearly indicates what they have a problem with (trans people existing and being respected), makes you a huge unreasonable asshole but one whose grievances can at least be parsed for some kind of meaning.
Griping about people just having “pronouns”: Incoherent, you are angry at a part of speech. Old man yells at cloud moment. Your hatred is so blinding that you can’t hide that you have no idea what you’re talking about and you look like a child throwing a tantrum except a child has probably been in an english class recently enough to know what a pronoun is.
Anyway we should do this with more stuff. Let’s just call transitioning puberty exclusively until we get right wing grifters saying that puberty is unnatural and if you’ve gone through it you’re a freak on their shitty little youtube channels.

in judaism we haven’t really had a concept of sin since the iron age. you can fuck up but everyone does that. god is always prepared to make amends if you are, but most grievances aren’t his department, they’re other people’s. and the rule of thumb there is that if you’ve made three attempts to make amends and it hasn’t worked, it’s not meant to happen and you should move on with your life. it’s also generally frowned on to shove people’s failures in their face or talk shit about people when they’re not around. i don’t mean to say the religion can’t have fucked up ideas about what constitutes error or whatever, but growing past a christian mindset on these things has been useful
Tumblr is giving us a lot of different dashes but the thing is no one wants “for you” so what I propose instead is you give me the ability to make mini-dashes with specific subsets of people I follow. Let me follow 300 people but then sort them into category. Let me have one dash for all my aesthetic stuff, another for news, another for my weird feral friends. Am I the only one who wants this? Maybe. Give it to me anyway.
This does exist, they are called Blogpacks, but they are Very Experimental and Very Buggy and you can only access them from special links. @labs is working on making it so that we can actually use them effectively and through the normal tumblr interface. I’ve been asking them for this for ten years and to think we almost have them properly is so exciting.
